Drupaldevelopment for custom websites

Build a website around the way your organization actually works. We’ve designed and built Drupal websites since Drupal 5, for arts organizations, agencies, venues and growing businesses that need more than a template.

You work directly with the two of us, the people planning, designing and building your site, from the first content decisions through launch and the years of support that follow.

Structured content your team can manage

A good content management system makes publishing routine. We shape Drupal around what you actually publish (programs, events, classes, people, media, resources or services) so each item is entered once, stays consistent and appears everywhere it belongs.

Done well, a class links to its instructor, an instructor profile lists every class they teach, and past events move into an archive instead of becoming dead pages. Editors fill in clear fields rather than formatting pages by hand, and permissions give each person access to exactly what they manage.

“They design what fits your vision while keeping best practices, website performance, and user experience at the forefront. They never sacrifice creativity to achieve great technical results.”

Nearly two decades of Drupal experience

We’ve been building on Drupal since version 5 and have carried client websites through every major platform change since, including the move from Drupal 7 to modern Drupal. That history helps when you bring us an older site: we know where legacy modules, custom code and dated content structures tend to cause trouble, and how to plan around them.

Along the way we’ve built class and event management, instructor and community profiles, artist rosters and talent directories with advanced filtering, submission workflows, repertory archives, and integrations with Stripe, Shopify, Ticketmaster and Brown Paper Tickets.

Drupal 7 and legacy version migrations

Drupal 7 reached end of life in January 2025, and Drupal 8 and 9 are also no longer supported. A site on one of these versions no longer receives community security fixes, and it becomes harder to host, update and extend every year.

A migration is a chance to keep what works and fix what doesn’t. We’ll go through your content, URLs, custom functionality and integrations with you, then move what matters onto current Drupal with a cleaner content structure and redirects in place, so your existing links keep working and search engines can follow the change.

Headless Drupal with Nuxt, when it earns its place

This website runs on Drupal with a Nuxt frontend, and we build the same setup for clients. Drupal remains the editorial home for your content while Nuxt delivers a fast, app-like public experience.

Headless is a strong choice when content feeds more than one channel, the interface behaves like an application, or the frontend needs its own release cycle. It also means two applications to host and look after, so for many organizations a well-built traditional Drupal site is the better investment. We’ll help you choose whichever fits your team, budget and goals.

How a Drupal project runs

  1. Discovery and technical review: your audiences, the people who publish, existing content, integrations and constraints.
  2. Content modeling: content types, relationships, editor workflows and permissions, agreed together before design begins.
  3. Design and development: the interface, Drupal functionality and, where it fits, a headless frontend.
  4. Migration, testing and training: content moved and checked, key journeys tested and your editors trained on the finished site.
  5. Launch and ongoing care: deployment and redirects, followed by hosting, updates and improvements through website support.

Selected Drupal and Nuxt work

Our Drupal and Nuxt projects include Tri-Link, Thomas King Flagg and this StirStudios website, alongside La Amada, Santa Barbara Public Market, The Dressing Drink, Ed Smart Music and Rainy Sky Films. Each one is built around its own content, audience and way of working.
